Jeffery Olsen

Jeffery C. Olsen is a bestselling author and moving public speaker, inspiring audiences internationally with his intriguing stories of perseverance and inner strength.

In 1997, Jeff Olsen experienced a horrific automobile accident. The accident caused multiple life-threatening injuries, including crushing both his legs. He had 18 surgeries and spent six months in the hospital. His left leg was amputated above the knee. The most devastating outcome of the accident was the loss of his wife and youngest son, both killed instantly.

Overwhelmed by the injuries his body suffered, Jeff had a profound near-death experience in which he met his wife on the other side, who told him he couldn’t stay and had to return. In the depths of despair from emotional, physical and mental anguish, without hope or understanding for how to even begin to go forward, Jeff heard the etherical wisdom of unconditional love in the form of two words ... "choose joy".

Having that glimpse into heaven gave him the courage he needed to carry on and care for his living son. He has since remarried and adopted two more sons.

According to Jeff’s website, his greatest joy comes from being a husband and father. His mission is to assist people in consciously embracing who they are and the connection they share with others and the universe. Jeff has written three books: Knowing, I Knew Their Hearts and Beyond Mile Marker 80.

"Choose joy."

Dr. Jeffery O'Driscoll

"I love such moments because everything reorders. Nothing trivial or temporal matters. In those moments, I see souls as they are, without the filters that incline us to separate people into groups and label individuals who are different from ourselves."

--from Dr. O'Driscoll's book Not Yet

Jeff O'Driscoll MD, author of Not Yet, cared for patients in the emergency department of a level-1 trauma center for 25 years. He saw people with nearly every imaginable illness or injury, and some that were almost unimaginable. Dr. O'Driscoll welcomed souls newly arriving into this sphere of existence and bid farewell to those who were leaving. Sometimes he encountered individuals who hovered between.

Dr. O'Driscoll first met an unconscious Jeff Olsen in a trauma suite on the night of Jeff’s accident. They have now been friends for over twenty years and have discussed at length the sometimes-tenuous terrain near the borders of mortality and the lessons to be learned from venturing beyond the veil. Dr. O'Driscoll has recently taken a leave of absence from the emergency department to do medical consulting and to write about his experiences of the last quarter century.
